Hermes Cadaceus

Knapp once again stood at the altar of the Great Hall the night right after Ada Barrett was announced to the school. "Once again we have a new student," she told the students and teachers of Lyreade. "His name is Hermes Cadaceus, sixth year, and he will be put into the Wyvernlor House. Please welcome him and his familiar Metis!" She proclaimed, and the hall erupted in applause. Bryn Reedwing, from the Wyvernlor table, smiled at Hermes and gestured for him to sit next to her. Devin didn't look very happy. After the noise had died down, Knapp smiled at everyone. "Enjoy your meal, people of Lyreade, and once again welcome, Hermes!"

  2. Bryn smiled at Hermes and gestured for him to sit next to her, ignoring the scowling Devin. "Welcome to Lyreade, Hermes."

  3. "Thanks," he replied, flashing her a brief smile. "I'm glad to be here. So, what's it like here? Loads better than my old school, I'll wager."

  4. Bryn thought about it for a second, then replied. "Well, we're all pretty much friendly to each other, but there are a couple individuals who don't really get along. Again, that happens in every school. We have classes every day except Sunday, and since you're in the sixth year you can go to Colema, Ruma, and Valgurie Lane whatever time you'd like." She paused, her brow furrowed, before continuing. "But do me a huge favor and don't go to Ruma, okay?"

  5. "Why?" he asked, raising his eyebrow. "What's wrong with Ruma?"

  6. Shiina, hearing the conversation, turned to the two students and narrowed her eyes at Bryn. "What are you going to say?" they seemed to ask.

  7. Bryn gave Shiina a look that said "Let me handle this". She looked at Hermes with wide and pleading amber eyes. "Please, Hermes, I'm not allowed to say anything but just... don't go there." The look in her eyes was almost desperate. "I'm not ordering you as your house head, I'm asking you as a fellow Wyvernlor and hopefully friend."

(It has to do with the prophecy, he can go there later, just please not now.)

  8. "Okay, I won't go there," Hermes replied with a shrug. "I'm fine with that. And I think I could be friends with you. You seem pretty cool."

( Mmkay, he won't go there. He wasn't going to anyway-- I've read a few of the previous comments. 'S all good! :D )

  9. Devin looked over at the new boy and nodded curtly, taking a look at Bryn before turning back to his meal.

  10. (haha :D)

Bryn turned and gave Shiina a swift triumphant grin before smiling at Hermes. "Yeah? You seem pretty cool too," she told him, leaning back in her chair.

  11. Across the table, Devin growled at the air.

  12. (LOL)
Bryn gave Devin a "shut up and stop growling at him" look before looking at Hermes apologetically. "He's really weird sometimes," she told him, shrugging before glaring at Devin once more.

  13. Devin put down his fork and stood up, a glare on his face. Then he turned and began to walk out of the Great Hall. (Jeez. My characters have such bad anger management.)

  14. (haha lol not leon or haruyuki tho)

Bryn rolled her eyes at his back and ignored him, facing Hermes again.

  15. Hermes stared after the ginger-blonde, then turned to speak to Bryn quickly. "Let me fix this. I'm good with people, and I don't want anyone angry at others because of me."
Before anyone could say anything, the tall sixth-year was following after Devin. "Hey! Umm... you!"

  16. Devin turned around to look at new boy. "Huh?" he said in an almost bored voice.

  17. Bryn stared after Hermes, sighing. Devin was just being an idiot like usual, getting jealous just because she wanted to be friendly to the new Wyvernlor.

  18. "I didn't mean to cause any trouble on my first day. And I'm not going to go after Bryn, if that's what you're worried about. She seems pretty cool, but I've already got my eye on someone else. Okay?" Hermes asked, running a hand through his black hair with a sigh. "What's your name, anyway?"

  19. Devin gave the boy one last look before walking away. "Linke," he muttered, not bothering to give his first name.

  20. Bryn sighed, and with an annoyed look she slammed her hands on the table and strided out of the Hall. "Hey, Hermes." She called as she passed him. "Sorry about that. He's usually more social, if he's not feeling more idiotic than normal." With that, she stalked out of the Hall, her shoes clicking against the floor, her amber eyes narrowed, and her dark hair flying behind her.

  21. Hermes shrugged, unfazed by the guy's not-so-niceness. Plenty of people were like that sometimes, so it wasn't a big deal. He himself was like that sometimes, although it was a very rare occurrence, and only people he knew really well experienced it.
He returned to his meal with a little half-smile, glancing over at the girl with the dark hair and cold red eyes. Smiling at her, he raised his water to his lips, then looked away, meeting the eyes of a different girl. This one had blond hair and dancing hazel eyes, and she met his smile with one of her own.
Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad. The people, at least, were interesting enough.

  22. Gwen looked up from her meal and gave Hermes a calculating glance, like she gave all new people she met. She inspected his piercing green eyes with the familiar light of mischief all Wyverlors and Eagletalons had, his shaggy black hair that just covered his eyes, and his quirky smile that he just gave Ada. Gwen stared longer, wondering if he was just going to be another person who hated for her unusual behavior or if he was someone who finally understood her. Probably the former. But hey, it was okay to dream, right?

  23. Hermes felt a pair of eyes on him and glanced around, his gaze finally coming to rest on a girl with black hair that gleamed bluish in the light and dark blue eyes. She was scrutinizing him, and he studied her right back before he decided that he liked her intelligent eyes and gave her a little crooked smile.
She seemed a bit surprised at that, and he decided that she probably wasn't often surprised by people.
Well, we shall just have to change that, won't we? Hermes thought, resolving to somehow become her friend. Not her boyfriend or anything, of course. But he'd be this girl's friend, whether she liked it or not.

  24. Leon looked at the new boy and spazzed, drinking butterbeer. Shiina looked from the table and observed him as well.

  25. (..... lol?)

Gwen quickly hid her surprise and narrowed her eyes at him, turning away. She instantly didn't trust anyone who smiled at her- that usually meant they were going to plant bubotuber pus in her pillowcase or something. The Dracoslyther finished her minestrone in a couple large gulps and pulled out a book, ignoring the gaze on her, and soon she was lost in the familiar euphoric feeling of soaring through the pages of a good book of writing.

  26. Hermes smiled to himself and returned his attention to his food. A new challenge was always fun.
