Obsidian Wood

The scary black part of the forest behind the Lyreade Castle that has the most evil and monsters in it. Students are strictly prohibited, and even some teachers are afraid to go in here.

  1. Tsukoto swooped into the forest, Daniel scampering on the ground below him. He landed on a low branch and changed back into his human form, Daniel transforming just behind him.

  2. Fallera had set up a tent at the edge of a clearing, and had just stepped out of it after putting her belongings down. "That's the sleeping quarters. Erecto," she added, flicking her wand, and the smaller tent constructed itself. "And that's where we can keep anything else, just in case."

Kasumi was expanding the clearing, making it about 20 metres wide, removing the undergrowth and foliage. She then placed what Fallera called 'magelights' around the clearing, which were pretty much glowing, floating spheres that emanated a soft light. "You can help, you know," she called over her shoulder. "Rather than sitting around watching us set up camp."

  3. Tsukoto stood up and looked above, making sure that the trees covered their new 'camp' well. He took some seeds out of his pocked and stuck them into the ground, watering them with a potion. The trees grew soundlessly in no time, sheltering the clearing from view. He then walked around the perimeter of the clearing, whispering charms and spells that would shroud it from view.

Daniel stalked up to his wife to stand beside her. He bent over and kissed her cheek, casting a spell over the whole clearing so that no rain would fall onto it. The alchemist quickly made sure that from the outside, it would still appear as if rain was falling in the clearing, and he erected a table in the middle of the clearing using the various metals in the ground.

  4. "Have you casted muggle repelling charms, Tsukoto?" Fallera asked her friend, who shook his head. "I'll do them, then. Muggletum repello, colloportus..." she continued muttering under her breath as she joined him in pacing the perimeter.
"It's late," she added in between spells. "We should probably eat something before we start night training."

"Good idea," Kasumi agreed. "I'll start on that, then. Join me?" she smiled at Daniel. He was, as dark a witch and 'evil' she was, a brother figure to her.

  5. Tsukoto nodded. "What should we do?" he said, turning to Fallera, who had finished casting her spells. The Japanese man conjured some chairs to sit around the table in the middle of the clearing.

Daniel turned to Kasumi. "What do you want to cook?" he asked. He had become quite an adapt cook this year, and had also learned to cook some Eastern dishes. He had learned how to prepare Japanese food a while back while with Tsukoto on a short mission.

  6. "Let's put this in the living quarters," Fallera decided, waving her wand and levitating them towards the tent. Stepping into the large, well-furnished, 4 room (2 of which were bedrooms) suite that was the tent, Fallera placed the table and chairs into a corner of the living room. "And there's a smaller island table we can eat off of in the kitchenette," she reminded Tsukoto, pointing at the tiny but useful granite countertop.

At the little stove in the kitchenette Kasumi pursed her lips in thought, and then shrugged. "I think something simple and not filling. We don't want to be too full while we train." She opened a cabinet. "And we don't really have many ingredients to cook with, anyway."

  7. Tsukoto nodded. "I guess that's about it," he said, making sure that all of the furniture was intact and that no colors clashed too badly against each other. The man had quite sensitive eyes. "Which bedroom will you and Daniel take? Kasumi and I can take the other one." [Let's have se––conds.]

Daniel nodded. "Perhaps something like plain rice and vegetables? Bread seems more of a breakfast-type food, and vegetables are easy to acquire. And they're healthy, too. You don't want to eat too much for dinner, anyways."

  8. "We'll take the one with least windows," she said, and then smirked. She knew that Kasumi would want that too, but she was off in the kitchen working, and would have no choice. Ah, the pleasures of having the first choice, Fallera thought to herself. "Unless you have objections."

"Sounds about right," Kasumi agreed. "There's rice in the cupboard, and some mushrooms and vegetables we can sauteƩ. I'll go out and look around for more greens- it'd be good to scout out the area as well." She took out a pan and the rice cooker. "I guess you can make the rice while I do that."

  9. Tsukoto shivered inwardly. He knew Kasumi would be displeased if he didn't object to Fallera's choice. Then again, windows could always be blocked off with magic, so the room choices didn't matter that much. "I have no objections," he said after a short pause.

Daniel nodded, and opened the wooden cupboard to get out a small bag of rice that was just enough to fill four small bowls. He poured the servings into a metal bowl that he quickly transmuted, and filled it with water using magic. Preferring his hands over magic, the alchemist then proceeded to wash out the rice.

  10. "Great," Fallera grinned. She loved aggravating Kasumi, mainly because since they were friends, she could get away with it. "I suppose we should settle in, and see if we can get around to patrol the area a bit before dinner. And did we set up an Anti-Apparition Charm?" She looked around- where were her things again? I have the worst memory, she grumbled silently before suddenly remembering she had taken them into the room she wanted already. "Damn," Fallera sighed. She hated when she randomly forgot things.
    [Remind you of someone? coughcoughmecoughcoughcough]

"Perfect." Kasumi nodded and swiftly ducked out of the tent, breathing in the familiar forestry scents of the conifers. She set out towards a random direction (east) and, luckily, immediately found a sort of fungus that was, according to previous experience, edible. Roots and fungus were practically all the vegetables she would be able to find in this wood, she realised. The canopy was too dense to find many edible greens in this place. Perhaps, then, Kasumi thought to herself, there would be some sort of berries or other fruits that they could use as sustenance. If it came down to desperate measures, there was always the easiest way out: get beyond the Anti-Apparition Charm's range, and then apparate to somewhere that had food, get it, and come back.

  11. Tsukoto nodded, and proceeded to walk into the room that he and Kasumi would share. Setting both of their things down onto a low table in the room, he swept his eyes around the room and then stepped back out into the clearing. "I say we do a quick patrol," he said. "To know our surroundings and stuff. We also have to look for things to watch out for."

Daniel quickly finished washing the rice and let it cook, going back to the cupboard for some seasonings and checking up the vegetable stock. Their supply was only enough to last for a few days, and if they weren't used quickly, they'd rot. The alchemist quickly picked the ones that he believed would be the first to go and started to wash them, placing them on the side when they were clean. Once they were dirt-free, he put them onto a pan and began to slowly cook them, the rice still cooking in a different pot.

  12. "Sounds good," Fallera said, and with a flick of her wand the door swung shut. "I think I saw Kasumi head out towards the east side. I'll cover the north, you'll do the south, and then we can join up and patrol the west together. Deal?"

[I'll comment for Kasumi when she comes back]

  13. Tsukoto nodded. "Sure," he said, quickly changing into a hawk and settling onto a branch. "We'd better get going." Flapping his powerful wings, the bird took off from the tree and headed southwards.

    [Okay~]
