This forest is full of dense undergrowth, plants, and deadly creatures. Students are generally not allowed here. The reason for its name is the many creatures that are still to be studied and discovered. It is extremely dangerous, and students without enough magical training could easily perish within its depths.
Bryn dragged Shiina into the middle o the dark forest. "Tell me what happened at the Lake, and I'll tell you what happened in the Room."
ReplyDelete(Shiina gets dragged around a LOT)
ReplyDeleteShiina didn't really know what to say. "I WHIPPED MY HAIR BACK IN FORTH!!!!!!!" (<-----no screw that) "....I stood there.....he walked over....we.....talked?"
(lame comment. im sorry.)
Bryn rolled her eyes as she leaned against a tree, then jumped away as its branches reached for her throat. "Actual description, please?"
ReplyDelete".....he said....he cared about me? Something like that. And...I asked him if he wanted to die....he said something like 'I wouldn't mind or something. So, erm, I got irritated and left?" Shiina felt like she had never spoken so much in her life. She looked around, the trees reminding her of her childhood in the forest. (;))
ReplyDeleteBryn contemplated the information, then analyzed her friend's way of saying it. "You weren't irritated," she finally concluded.
ReplyDeleteShiina looked at Bryn. "Did I have to be?"
ReplyDeleteBryn ignored her and continued talking. "You were.... embarrassed? Afraid? Confused?"
ReplyDeleteShiina thought. "Nothing special...." she said.
ReplyDeleteBryn shook her head. "He likes you, that's for sure. He's just not sure what to make of it."
ReplyDeleteShiina turned scarlet. "......."
ReplyDeleteBryn gave her a sideways glance. "And do you like him back?"
ReplyDelete".....I don't have interests in people."
ReplyDeleteBryn smirked slightly. "Really. What happened to 'I envy you, Bryn Reedwing' a few months back?" She snorted.
ReplyDeleteShiina turned and stared at the other girl. "That was to get your attention," she said. "Until I find Taki again I won't involve myself in 'affairs'."
ReplyDeleteBryn almost burst out laughing. "Are you serious? Are you actually serious? Do you actually believe that?" She shook her head in mirth. "Look, Shiina. Let me tell you this: You can't control what you feel. More importantly, you can't control your future. Even more importantly, you can't control the past. Because we're just pawns in a big game. The prophecy. I don't know whether your brother is involved in it, or whether my sister is involved in it, or my dead twin brother is, but I don't care. I've no reason to. I just... go along with it, you know?"
ReplyDeleteShiina narrowed her eyes, thinking about the blue haired little boy. She hadn't seen him in six years, yet she still could picture his face very well. And she needed his trust back. She looked at Bryn. "So," she said. "The room of mysteries?"
ReplyDeleteBryn looked at Shiina for a second, then looked away. "Um."
ReplyDeleteShiina's eyes bore into Bryn (ouch). "......."
ReplyDelete(LOL)
ReplyDeleteBryn sighed. "So Devin suddenly came into the room while I was just sitting there."
Shiina nodded slightly, thinking about her family's old temple in the forest. "And?"
ReplyDelete"Um. I asked him what he was doing there and he said he didn't know, so I decided he was hopeless and started reading a book. Then he for some reason scooted up beside me and I glared at him then asked him why he was always being so retarded and annoying and then he said that it was because he liked me so I didn't know what to do and I ran." Bryn said this very quickly, all in one breath.
ReplyDeleteShiina nodded again. ".......so......"
ReplyDeleteBryn would have rolled her eyes and said that Dracoslyther students were always pretty much immune to emotions but she was too busy trying not to blush and said nothing.
ReplyDeleteAn awkward silence settled over the two girls.
ReplyDelete"..."
ReplyDeleteShiina turned around. "We should get back to the school," she said.
ReplyDeleteBryn nodded, looking up at the setting sun. "Yeah."
ReplyDeleteThe two girls left.
ReplyDeleteLeon was sitting at the edge of the forest, thinking. He stared into the trees and wondered how they had sprung up there in the first place.
ReplyDeleteDamien and Devin padded into the forest.
ReplyDeleteDevin looked around. "Doesn't look too suspicious now," he said. "At least it's morning."
ReplyDelete"Yeah. Let's make sure we have everything." Damien opened his bag. "Right. I have food and water for five days, weapons, a couple books on spells, a tent, and a pot." His backpack had an Undetectable Extension Charm on it, so one could put many things inside.
ReplyDelete(...)
Devin thought for a moment. "I have about the same thing," he said, not mentioning that he secretly had a lingering picture of Bryn in his mind. "Let's keep on going."
ReplyDeleteDamien nodded, and slung his bag over his shoulder, leading them both deeper into the forest. They walked in silence for a while, then Damien spoke up. "Devin... have you ever felt something so strongly that you get dizzy, and you're not sure whether you can stand upright anymore?"
ReplyDeleteDevin looked up. "Hah?" he said. Devin wasn't a very comprehensive boy. "What do you mean?" Apparently, he didn't think a lot either. "I sort of get what you mean, but sorta don't...."
ReplyDeleteDamien stopped walking and turned around to face Devin. "You know why I asked you to come, right? You know why I'm rescuing Taki." He took a deep breath. "I'm doing it because I know it means a lot to Shiina. If Taki dies, Shiina will never forgive herself, and neither will I. I'm doing this because I love her, so much that I'm not sure whether it's just a hallucination or not."
ReplyDeleteDevin was speechless. "Eh......" He sighed and smiled up at his friend. "Well, I guess I know what you mean now. Bryn didn't want me to go, she called me an idiot and all that stuff, but in the end I told her that I'd do anything for a friend of hers and she seemed to cheer up a little." Devin leaned back into a tree. "Emotions are complicated..."
ReplyDeleteDamien looked slightly surprised. "Bryn? Well, I suppose so. You look at her like she's some kind of dessert." He smirked a little. "She likes you, though, she just doesn't realize it," Damien assured his friend.
ReplyDeleteDevin stared at his friend, wide mouthed and speechless. "Ga..ga....ga..." he kept on saying, but never managed to make a solid sentence.
ReplyDelete(GAGA!!!)
ReplyDelete"What?"
(lOL BRYN)
Devin sighed. "Never mind," he said. "We need to get going."
ReplyDeleteDamien nodded. "Yeah." He started walking again.
ReplyDeleteAs they continued to pad on, the sun began to rise. Devin narrowed his eyes. "Gonna get hot," he muttered.
ReplyDelete(SUDDENLY BOTH BOYS HAD A YAOI SCENE!~)
(haha)
ReplyDeleteDamien dug around in his bag and threw Devin a water bottle. "Here. Don't drink too much of it or we'll run out."
Devin took the tiniest sip he could manage then passed it back. "Thanks," he said. "By the way, where are we going to?"
ReplyDeleteDamien shrugged. "Where her parents are. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the prophecy."
ReplyDeleteDevin suddenly turned gloomy. "And do you know where they are? They could be in Japan, for all we know..."
ReplyDelete"They aren't," Damien shook his head. "They're too far away from where we are. They want to be close to the action, where the prophecy is."
ReplyDeleteDevin sighed. "YAY" were his inner thoughts. "So, where are we headed?"
ReplyDeleteDamien shrugged. "We look for clues."
ReplyDeleteDevin looked around, as if there would be a clue nearby. Turns out, there was. "Damien!" he called. "Theres a shuriken on the tree!"
ReplyDelete(LOL that must look retarded)
Damien rushed over. "A shuriken... we must be on the right track. But why would there be a shuriken in a tree? Assassins never miss, and they wouldn't randomly hit a tree. Do they mean for us to go this way? Is it a trap?"
ReplyDeleteDevin narrowed his eyes. "I don't think it missed," he said, pointing to blood spatters on the ground. They were already dried to a red-brown, releasing the smell of death into the air.
ReplyDelete"Where's the body?" Damien asked, looking around with narrowed eyes.
ReplyDeleteDevin narrowed his eyes and looked around. His eyes widened as he spotted a blood trail. "Look!" he said, and started to follow it.
ReplyDelete(You decide who's blood it is :D)
(probably a random dude)
ReplyDeleteDamien sprinted after the blood trail, and found that it ended in a stream in the forest. "They probably just threw him in," he told Devin.
Devin sighed. "Well, that's the end of our trail." He paused to look around for a moment. "Which way should we head?"
ReplyDelete"On from here, I think," Damien suggested, noticing an unnatural slice of grass on the ground a little ways in front of him. "I think that they continued from this spot. See that blade of grass? As assassins they would keep their weapons in unseen places, like their boots. A blade could have accidentally slid out while they were throwing whoever that was into the river, cutting the grass as they walked onwards."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "We should be careful," he said. "They could be hiding anywhere, considering their skills."
ReplyDelete"They could... wait." Damien took out his wand. "They might be powerful dark wizards and assassins, but they're still human. Homenum Revelio ." Nothing happened. "They're not here."
ReplyDeleteDevin sighed in relief. "OK, let's keep moving," he said, continuing to pad along the river bank.
ReplyDeleteDamien stepped after him, keeping a sharp eye out for anything unusual.
ReplyDeleteDevin narrowed his eyes. Nothing was happening, but he still had a bad feeling that something evil was near....
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, a dark shape that resembled a black wolf lunged towards the two. Damien leapt out of the way after pushing Devin away. "Probably sent by her parents," Damien called to his friend. "Be careful, it looks magically enhanced."
ReplyDeleteDevin narrowed his eyes and took out a vial that showed an animal's true form. If this wasn't a real wolf, it would change into what it originally was.... Devin snarled and quickly flung some of the liquid at the figure.
ReplyDeleteThe wolf just looked even more enraged and glowed a dark purple, racing at Devin with bared teeth. "It's not an animagus or something, just a wolf that her parents manipulated into working for them, and did some magical stuff to it!" Damien shot a stunning spell at the wolf, and it stumbled but shook it off and continued aiming clawed swipes at Devin.
ReplyDeleteDevin quickly jumped out of the way and shot a Conjunctivitus curse at the wolf. It fell to the ground, pawing its eyes.
ReplyDeleteDamien shot a Confundus Curse at the wolf, and it shook its head in confusion, disoriented. Taking advantage of that, Damien sent a Blasting Charm towards it. Its fur caught on fire and it whined in pain.
ReplyDeleteDevin quickly turned around. "Fumunculus!" he exclaimed, making the wolf covered in boils. "Ferula!" he then proceeded to say, and the wolf fell to the ground, on fire, covered in boils and wrapped in bandages like a retarded mummy.
ReplyDelete(fumunculus? lol its furnunculus)
ReplyDeleteDamien snorted in amusement. He pointed his wand at the wolf and said almost lazily, "Petrificus Totalus ." It froze, unmoving. He waved his wand again and it rolled into the river. Damien grinned at Devin. "That was cool," he said unnecessarily.
(mmmmeh)
ReplyDeleteDevin sighed. "Well, that's one enemy down, I guess. Who knows what's next?"
"Exactly. We must keep on the lookout." He moved onwards, pocketing his wand.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded as they trudged on. He looked around. The forest seemed harmless enough, but apparently it wasn't....
ReplyDeleteDamien narrowed his eyes as he sensed a dark presence.
ReplyDeleteDevin gasped as he turned around – a figure was standing in between the trees.
ReplyDeleteDamien quickly created a shield for him and Devin. "Who are you?" He demanded, eyes narrowed.
ReplyDeleteDevin glared as the figure stepped out of the trees. It was...a man?
ReplyDelete(... who is it?)
ReplyDeleteDamien muttered, " Lumos Maximus !" A bright light shone powerfully, revealing the scarred face of a middle-aged, but still visibly strong, man.
(Dunno....)
ReplyDeleteDevin raised a small sword. "Who are you?" he demanded, trying not to show any arrogance, which he normally would have included in his speech.
(hired assassin?)
ReplyDeleteThe figure stayed silent but watched the two with black eyes. Damien growled under his breath, uncharacteristically, and pointed his wand threateningly at the man under the hood. "Tell. Us," he hissed, thinking only of Taki's - and Shiina's - fate.
(xD assassins hiring an assassin....)
ReplyDeleteDevin didn't know what to say, so he kept his glare, carefully watching every single movement the scarred man made.
(yup! XD)
ReplyDeleteFinally, the man spoke. "You shall not find him," he said in a cold, slimy voice, something akin to a slippery anaconda. "And if you should, you would be killed immediately."
Damien narrowed his eyes but did not lose control or lower his wand. "I don't know who you're talking about. Who would we be trying to find?"
Devin snorted. "Find? Find what? It's not our fault Smith wanted the males to do his little forest chores for him, is it?"
ReplyDelete(hehe.)
"You cannot fool me," the man said, in that disgusting voice of his.
ReplyDeleteDamien narrowed his eyes even further. "Leave us alone. We'll tell the Headmistress."
The man made a sound, something like a mixture of two pillars grinding against each other and a gross, gurgling sound. It took Damien a moment to realize he was laughing. "Do you really think that the Masters would let you..." he started laughing again.
Devin stood, dumbfounded. "Y-you're laugh is so stupid," he wanted to say, but kept his mouth shut as the man continued to laugh.
ReplyDeleteWhen the man finally stopped laughing, he stared at the two boys with a taunting smile on his face. "Well, it's my duty to stop you now, so stop you I will!"
Damien growled. "No, you won't!" He shot a fiery red spell at the man, who batted it away with a smirk. Damien shot spell after spell, all of which was blocked easily.
ReplyDeleteDevin glared. Most spells wouldn't work, but if he used weapons, they probably would be even less effective. He stood next to Damien, firing spells as well. "He's got to get hit some time!" he thought.
ReplyDelete" Excelsiosempra !" Damien shouted, using the spell that Gwen had used on a rat. There was no counterspell except accio, and the man flew into the air, not thinking about that.
ReplyDeleteDevin grinned. "Petrificus totalus!" he cried as he shot the spell towards the flying man, wondering if it would work at all on that giant bulk of flab.
ReplyDeleteThe spell missed and the man muttered "Accio", bringing him back down to the ground. A golden, flaming spell flew at Damien and hit him in the shoulder. His flesh was burnt and smoking.
ReplyDeleteDevin clenched his teeth as he watched his friend get hit. "YOU BASTARD!" he screamed as he lunged towards the man, shooting spells with one hand and ferociously throwing knives with the other.
ReplyDeleteA knife hit the man's stomach and a freezing spell hit the man's chest, and the man toppled over, dying in his frozen state. Damien staggered upright, clutching his bleeding shoulder. He snorted in amusement at the slightly ridiculous expression of the man, then stopped because his shoulder was bothering him too much.
ReplyDeleteDevin padded closer to the killer, eyes dark, as if taken over by shadows. "Don't you ever do that again. Not that you can, though," he said, taking another knife out of his sleeve. "Die." and with that, he slit the weapon across the man's neck, servering it from its body. Blood spurted from the great wound like a fountain.
ReplyDelete(YAY)
(YAY! LOL)
ReplyDeleteDamien stumbled over to the man and fell onto Devin. "Sorry, sorry..." he muttered, and struggled back upright.
Devin bit his lip. He wasn't the best at performing healing spells. He gently peeled Damien off him and leaned him against a tree, quickly performing a wound-closing spell and dripping a burn potion onto the wound. "Ferula," he muttered, tightly wrapping the wound in bandages.
ReplyDeleteDamien winced at the potion, but thanked Devin for his help. "Thanks, Dev," he smiled slightly, then got up and shouldered his bag. "We need to get going. Let's see if we can trail where the assassin came from."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "We'll probably be able to track his scent," he said. "That guy probably hasn't taken a decent shower in centuries."
ReplyDeleteDamien laughed. "Comem on, let's go."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded and they both trudged on, Devin using a scent-tracking spell he had seen Bryn use one time when they were third-years. "Thank you, Bryn," he thought as he walked.
ReplyDeleteAs Damien walked he thought of Shiina, her face, her smile, her kiss, her... he'll admit it, body. He thought about not ever seeing her again and felt tears gather at the back of his eyes. Damien held them back and looked forward, his face straight.
ReplyDeleteDevin frowned. "From the way the spell is pointing," he said, "We just need to head down the stream. And we don't have much farther, judging from the length of this arrow." Devin jabbed a finger at the arrow that the spell had formed.
ReplyDeleteDamien looked up from his thoughts. "What? Oh, yeah. Good thinking," he said a little mindlessly, surprising for an Eagletalon.
ReplyDeleteDevin raised an eyebrow but said nothing, looking around. "It does seem a little bit darker here," he remarked. "Be careful."
ReplyDeleteDamien rolled his eyes, returning to his usual self. "Dude. Of course it's a little darker. It's a domain of dark wizards."
ReplyDeleteDevin sighed. "Anyways...huh?" The arrow cast by the spell had disappeared. "What? Does it mean..?"
ReplyDelete"Either it's been blocked or we're there," Damien said, looking around. They were surrounded by dense foliage. The sun had set, and it was pitch black. "I don't think we're there," he said, slightly nervously.
ReplyDeleteDevin clenched his teeth. "Damn...." he said. "If we use lumos and it IS their turf, then they'll know we're here..."
ReplyDeleteDamien muttered under his breath, "Homenum Revelio." Nothing happened. "Okay, how about this... Protego Horribilis," Damien said, pointing his wand at Devin. "It's usually used for objects, but it'll offer some protection for you too," the Eagletalon said. "Well, we might as well camp out here. It's too dark to do anything." He began walking around in a large circle about 7 sq.meters large, muttering protection charms. "Muffliato... Protego Totalum... Protego Horribilis... You can get out the tent, Devin... Cave Inimicum... Impervius... Repello Muggletum... Salvio Hexia..."
ReplyDeleteDevin quickly unpacked the things inside his back and assembled the tent. "Hmph," he said. It was a little lopsided, but he quickly set it straight with a spell. He looked over at Damien. "Oi! You done yet?"
ReplyDeleteDamien had already filled a pot of water and was making a fire. He glanced up. "What do you think? Come on, take that pot inside. I'll take the fire in too." At Devin's incredulous look, Damien rolled his eyes again. "Hello? Magic? The tent's basically a small cottage."
ReplyDeleteDevin sighed. "Magic amazing after all," he said after a while, then looked around. "We should make plans for tomorrow. But I'm still curious on why the arrow suddenly disappeared like that. Sure, this place is dark, but it's nighttime and it didn't seem that, well, dangerous..."
ReplyDeleteDamien levitated the pot and the rest of their belongings into the tent and sat down at the little dining table while their cabbage and pork soup cooked on the stove. "Then they must have prevented their camp from being found, which made the arrow disappear," Damien told Devin thoughtfully.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded slowly. "That sucks," he said. He peered out of the little window in the tent. "The forest sure is scary at night..."
ReplyDeleteDamien smiled. "Yeah, I guess. But nothing will be able to see or hear us with my protection charms, so it's alright I guess. Well, until somebody detects the spells. Then I suppose we run for it, unless we know we can defeat them." He looked up, smelling the pork broth. "Soup's done. You'll find a loaf of bread in the cabinet up there," Damien said to Devin, pointing to the cabinet above the kitchen counter. "A bit stale, but it'll do. Oh, and there's some mead too of you want it." He extinguished the fire and put the pot on a cloth on the table, then poured some mead for both of them while Devin got the bread. They both sat down, and Damien smiled slightly. "A decent meal," he said. "Bon appetit!"
ReplyDeleteDevin grinned slightly, placing the bread onto a cloth on a table. He muttered a spell and sliced two pieces off. "Here," he said, passing one to Damien. He looked around the spacious tent, then whipped out an advanced spell book. "No point in relaxing now," he remarked. "Something could happen at any time."
ReplyDeleteDamien nodded, agreeing. He munched on a piece of bread and sipped his stew. "We should talk about what we're going to do tomorrow."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "Well, we can't really do ANYTHING unless we find them....so....?"
ReplyDelete"So, I think we should do some research on them. The more we know, the better. Good thing I brought these," Damien smiled, taking out a pile of dusty books from his bag and putting it on the table. "All on dark wizards and assassins."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded and picked up one of the books. "Heh..." he muttered as he dusted off the cover. "Looks useful...."
ReplyDelete"Thanks," Damien nodded, then picked up another book. "Well, we'd better get researching!"
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "We'll compare what we find in ten minutes," he said, and continued to read.
ReplyDeleteDamien took a swig of his mead and kept on reading.
ReplyDeleteAfter a while, Devin looked up. "My book doesn't really say anything," he said. "This stuff is what we already know."
ReplyDeleteDamien flung another book at him. "Read this then," he said, and continued reading.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded, quickly scanning the pages, then looked up. "You find anything?"
ReplyDelete"Eh. Not much, just about the history on dark wizards." Damien sighed, flipping a page.
ReplyDeleteDevin sighed, then looked at the page that Damien had just flipped to. "Hey!" he exclaimed. "There's something there!" he pointed to a diagram of a dark forest and a long paragraph beside it. "What's it about?"
ReplyDeleteDamien squinted his eyes and looked at it. "It's something about... traditional dark wizards and their famous historical locations. This seems to be one of them. Maybe its the Natsumoto family wizards?" He looked hopeful as he read the caption.
ReplyDeleteDevin crossed his fingers, hoping that they would have their luck this time. He peered at the small text. "Score!" he yelled, and jumped up into the air. "This might actually lead us to something!"
ReplyDeleteDamien grinned. "Awesome. Let's see now... "The Natsumoto family is one of the oldest wizarding families in history, one with a dark history. Their "birthplace" is within the depths of the Kurai Jungle in Osaka, Japan. However, their family has moved around the world. Their last known location is in the forests of the North American wilds." He looked up, smiling widely. "That's probably us!"
ReplyDeleteDevin grinned. "Is there anything else?" he asked, trying not to look too stupid or enthusiastic.
ReplyDelete"No, that's it. At least we know we're close. Or at least, in the right forest." Damien said optimistically. "Come on, let's finish the soup and the rest of the meal, then get ready for tomorrow. We need a good night's sleep, and it's already 11pm."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded and quickly slurped up the rest of his soup. He put down the empty bowl and cleaned it with another spell he had learned from Bryn. He flopped down on the floor. "Nngh!" he said as he stretched.
ReplyDelete(LOL he learns everything from bryn)
ReplyDeleteDamien muttered "Tergeo" to take the oil and food off the bowl and table then said "Scourgify" to clean the rest up. "Okay, we'd better start packing."
Devin nodded and started to put the things away. When he was done, he flopped back down on the floor. "Ahhhhh....." he muttered. "Tired......." he looked up at the ceiling with blank eyes.
ReplyDeleteDamien sighed. "There's two bunk beds there," he said, pointing to a small room in the corner. He continued organizing things. "I'll make tomorrow's breakfast and store it for tomorrow. I'll probably take some food out, too."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded, and jumped up onto the top bed. "The wizards will get you first," he teased sleepy, then dropped onto the bed, out cold.
ReplyDeleteDamien smiled, and finished frying the cheese and ham omelete, stored it, took out some stale cheese, a bottle of mead, a bag of dried fruits and nuts, and finally a bit of dried meat. He placed them in his bag and took his belongings to his room, putting them down onto the bedside with his long hunting knife next to his pillow, changed into a big t-shirt and cotton plaid pants and fell asleep thinking about Shiina.
ReplyDeleteDevin had dark dreams. He and Bryn were in the forest, surrounded by lush trees, but as the dream grew darker, vines creeped out of nowhere and grabbed her, leaving him all alone. "Bryn....." he grumbled in his sleep, rolling over. Unfortunately, he had rolled off the wrong side and landed with a thud to the floor. "Ouch."
ReplyDelete(LOL)
ReplyDelete~The next day~
Damien woke up early again, at around six thirty, an hour earlier than when they got the wakeup call for school. He got up, changed into a white shirt, jeans, and a navy blue hoodie, and went to the storage to get breakfast out. He placed it on a saucepan and heated it with a couple spells, then placed them on plates and read the book he was reading yesterday until Devin woke up.
Devin woke up, staring questions at Damien. "Why am I on the floor?" he wondered out loud, then shook it off and quickly changed into the same attire he had been wearing the previous day, a green shirt with brown pants.
ReplyDeleteDamien shrugged at Devin and pushed an omelete and a glass of orange juice towards Devin. "Here's breakfast," he said, taking a gulp of his own drink.
ReplyDeleteDevin raised his eyebrows. "Thanks," he said, taking the food and quickly inhaling it, and gulping down his orange juice. He looked up. "We should probably head out soon."
ReplyDeleteDamien nodded. "Yes. After we eat, we'll pack up the tent and leave." He took another bite of omelete. He threw Devin yesterday's copy of the Wizarding Times. "Here. You can read it if you want." He went on reading the book.
ReplyDeleteDevin scanned the page. "Hm...." he said. "It says 'Dark Times are Coming'....." he looked up. "Do you think anyone else knows about the prophecy?"
ReplyDelete"Nah. Only us. At least, I think so. Well, besides the ones that the prophecy involve," Damien answered. "I'm sure that we kept it a secret."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "Must mean something else then....Are you done yet? We should head back out as soon as possible."
ReplyDelete"Yeah, I'm done. Help me clean up. Don't just sit there like you did yesterday," Damien scolded Devin, standing up and putting the utensils, plates, and glasses into the sink with a wave of his wand.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded, and quickly folded up the tablecloth and dismantled the table. He walked over and quickly helped Damien clean and put away the dishes, then sighed. "So, I guess we should step outside and get the tent down."
ReplyDeleteDamien nodded. "Yeah." He put his hoodie back on and took his bag with him out of the tent. From the outside the tent looked big enough to fit two people, not even standing, with a dirty cover and canvas outside. When Devin got out he waved his wand at the tent which collapsed and put itself into Damien's bag.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "Let's get going," he said, looking around. "Which way should we head?"
ReplyDelete"West. Away from Lyreade," Damien answered swiftly. "I don't know, but I have the feeling that's the way."
ReplyDeleteIn the dense forest, unbeknownst to the two boys, stood a small figure on a tree, watching them. The figure stayed still for another while, watching the two head away, then sped away silently, barely moving a leaf.
Devin looked away. "It is getting a little creepier," he admitted, looking around. "Hm.... I bet we're near....." Devin quickly drew a weapon just in case. "Better safe than sorry!"
ReplyDeleteDamien quickly pushed it away. "No," he told him quietly, his voice barely a whisper. "If you display it like that people will see that you're a threat. Put it away, but make sure you can get to it quickly."
ReplyDeleteDevin sighed. "If these are Natsumoto's parents, they'll for sure think that we're threats," he said, but obeyed his friend's orders.
ReplyDeleteDamien shrugged. "Like you said, better safe than sorry, right?" He moved back into a easy but swift lope. "Well, we'd better get a move on. We'll get there before dark. Hopefully," he added as an afterthought. You couldn't take anything for granted.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "Let's go quickly," he said. "We've already spent one day travelling."
ReplyDelete"Yeah," Damien agreed, and quickened the pace, striding forward with big steps.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, Devin looked around and widened his eyes, sensing danger. "Get down!" he screamed, quickly rushing over and knocking his friend down to the ground. A shuriken whizzed by their heads and embedded itself into the hard forest floor.
ReplyDeleteDamien rolled over and quickly scaled a tree, having no time to thank Devin. "Climb!" He called to him, and leaped from branch to branch. "Homenum Revelio," he hissed, and a shimmering form of three black-clad assassins stood before him then vanished. "There's three of them!" He called to Devin.
ReplyDeleteDevin glared. "We won't stand a chance," he spat, turning to his friend with eyes of determination. "Got any ideas?"
ReplyDeleteDamien nodded, smirking. "Yeah." He waved his wand and three red dots appeared in the air above the three assassins, seen only to Devin and Damien. "Now we know where they are. We need distractions for them. I'm not an assassin myself so I wouldn't know but I did read about some techniques against them."
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "Hm," he thought. "We could throw a small smoke bomb behind them or something. I read that that's effective. Or something that will make them turn around with out them actually seeing us doing it."
ReplyDelete"Good idea. Here," Damien handed Devin one, and quickly threw one himself. Smoke surrounded the assassins, and Damien motioned for Devin to throw his from the other side.
ReplyDeleteDevin quickly tossed his and smirked when the assassins showed their confusion, and turned around. He pointed his wand at two of them and whispered, "Stupify," hoping that Damien would take care of the other one.
ReplyDelete"Incarcerous," Damien said calmly, pointing his wand at the woman, and thick ropes bound around her body. "Obscuro," he then ordered his wand, and a black blindfold appeared over her eyes. He did the same to the others, after the smoke had cleared. He stepped back. "They are not completely secure," he cautioned Devin. "They are assassins. They know how to get out of this." Damien, just to be sure, froze them with "Petrificus totalus". They would be that way for about 4 hours, enough time for Damien and Devin to be way ahead of them.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "Let's get going," he said. "We need to move quickly before they figure out that we overpowered the assassins and send out more."
ReplyDelete"Agreed," Damien said quickly, and raced forward. "We need like a scooter or something," he sighed, forgetting that the pureblood Devin didn't know what a scooter was.
ReplyDeleteDevin stared questions at his friend as they continued to trek through the forest. "How long do you think this'll take?" he wondered out loud.
ReplyDelete"We won't know until we get close enough," Damien told him.
ReplyDelete(...)
Devin nodded slowly. "What a drag....."
ReplyDeleteDamien sighed. "Yeah." The two walked on for a couple of miles before he tripped and landed face first flat on the ground. Damien pulled himself up, grumbling, and something caught his eye. The stone in front of him had something carved into it. It was some kind of symbol, a shuriken with a pupil. It seemed familiar, like Damien had seen it somewhere before. He searched deep within his mind for the memory as he tried to pick it up from the ground. It was stuck, embedded into the soil. Damien frowned, then suddenly it hit him like lightning. He jumped up and turned to Devin. "There, on the stone!" He hissed to him, pointing to the rock on the ground. "It's the Natsumoto family crest!"
ReplyDeleteDevin widened his eyes. "So we're near then?" he inquired, kneeling down to inspect the rock. "Must be in pretty deep. Be careful," he remarked, looking around for anything unusual. Everything seemed normal...
ReplyDeleteDamien nodded. "We must." Suddenly something shot up from the ground to strike Devin and Damien in their faces, making them both topple over. "Ouch..." they both muttered, and Damien got up. "It must be a booby trap or something. Just defense."
ReplyDelete(LOL)
Devin nodded and quickly formed a small forcefield around the both of them; anything that touched the shield would immediately dissolve into a fine and harmless sand-like powder.
ReplyDeleteDamien raised an eyebrow at his friend. "Where'd you learn that? Bryn?"
ReplyDeleteDevin shrugged. "I heard that Dumbledore used it once," he said. "And then I told Bryn about it and she made the spell, so I suppose so."
ReplyDelete"Cool." Damien nodded his approval. "I just hope that Shiina's mom won't get Bryn's mom to make a spell that deflects that," he said. "Does it drain energy?" He asked.
ReplyDeleteDevin shrugged again. "I-I honestly don't know," he said. "I've only ever held it for five seconds."
ReplyDelete"Hm." Damien grunted. "Well then let's hope it lasts longer than that. Oh, can you teach me?"
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "The spell is pulverius," he explained. "You don't have to do any special movements, just think about what the shield should be around."
ReplyDelete"Okay, let's try it." Damien concentrated, then thought the spell and a glowing circle appeared in front of them then disappeared. "I made it invisible," he explained to Devin. "Is it right?"
ReplyDeleteDevin looked at the empty space. "Seems good," he commented. "OK, so now what?"
ReplyDelete"We keep going, I guess," Damien shrugged, and moved forward. There was a pause, then the knives that flew towards them broke in the barrier. "Another one. It worked though," Damien smiled happily.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded. "But the attacks could get worse," he said. "We might not be able to protect ourselves with these barriers."
ReplyDelete"Exactly. Which is why we've got to stay sharp," Damien told him.
ReplyDeleteDevin nodded and looked around, narrowing his eyes.
ReplyDeleteDamien treaded lightly, looking around with a tense posture, knowing that something could come and kill them any minute.
ReplyDeleteDevin glared as several shurikens whipped past his head. "Tch," he said. "Do you think they'll come out eventually?"
ReplyDelete"Of course they will," came a voice, distinctively female and elegant. Damien whipped around to see nothing. He narrowed his eyes.
ReplyDelete"Show yourself! Or selves," he added as an afterthought.
Devin narrowed his eyes. This was it. They would either die here or succeed and go back to the school. One of the two. "Come out already!" he yelled into the trees.
ReplyDelete"As you wish, Devin Linke," the voice said again, and you could hear the smile in the voice. A tall, slender woman with silvery blond hair and the same red eyes as Shiina stepped out of the gloom, ten other assassins with her. "Hello. I'm glad to finally meet you, Damien Kumataka, lover of my daughter."
ReplyDeleteDevin stared at the figures in front of him. Surely they couldn't win over these people, but maybe there was a chance? He looked over at Damien, wondering how he would react.
ReplyDeleteDamien was staring at the woman with a hatred he had never felt before. "Shut up, you stupid woman! You b*tch!" He snarled at her, taking a step forward. Kasumi looked amused. "Oh dear," she said in Japanese. "What has my daughter been telling you?"
ReplyDeleteDevin stepped backwards, taken aback by his friend's actions. "D-Damien..." he stuttered.
ReplyDeleteDamien whipped around and glared at Devin with a finger pointing at Kasumi. "This retarded woman hurt Shiina in so many ways that Shiina's never be what she was before her! What kind of ******************** does that?"
ReplyDeleteKasumi actually giggled this time, and Damien made a go at her.
Devin was still slightly taken aback. "Damien!" he yelled. "Don't!"
ReplyDelete(...)
Damien stopped himself, but still glared mutinously at Kasumi. "Well, what do you want to do?" He growled.
ReplyDeleteDevin brought his wand in front of him. It gave him some sense of security, but he still didn't feel that safe.
ReplyDelete(LOL)
ReplyDeleteDamien wand was already out and pointing at Kasumi. "Where's Tsukoto?" He demanded. "Your husband?"
(u wna play her too? it's a bit awkward for me...)
