The Headmistress, Rebecca Elizabeth Knapp, has her office here. This is where she works and usually spends her time. There is a large mahogany desk in the center with many bookcases lining the walls. Her desk is a little cluttered, but there is still some space on the desk. There is a staircase leading up to the office. The light, two candle lamps hung from the ceiling, are the only lights in the room, so the lighting is usually quite dim, but Rebecca likes it this way.
(I never knew Bryn was the headmistress...)
ReplyDelete(she's not....)
ReplyDelete..............where does it say that?
ReplyDelete(now she changed it)
ReplyDeleteBryn and Shiina knocked on the door. Bryn was nervous, not sure what to expect. From inside the room a feminine, calm voice answered, "You may enter." Bryn exchanged a look with her friend and stepped inside.
ReplyDeleteShiina shook slightly, but proceeded to walk into the room with Bryn.
ReplyDeleteBryn wasn't sure whether she should bow or something, so she just said, "Err... Hello, Headmistress, what did you want us here for?"
ReplyDeleteKnapp directed her wand to the door behind them and it closed shut. "Please, sit down," she invited kindly, pointing her wand at the large comfy chair in front of her large mahogany desk, and it duplicated then sat side by side, facing the headmistress. Bryn paused, but walked forward and, as elegantly as possible, sat herself down in the chair.
Shiina narrowed her eyes, but sat down on the other chair, looking down at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing she had ever seen.
ReplyDelete"Tell me- what happened in the corridor?" Knapp looked at the two expectantly.
ReplyDeleteShiina looked away. "I don't remember," she said dully.
ReplyDeleteBryn hesitated, then told Knapp the truth. "Shiina and I were going to the library, but I forgot something in my dorm, so she went ahead while I fetched it. I remember walking to the corridor and seeing something that made me get Shiina and go back to the corridor. When we got there- I know we were attacked, and Yamamoto was injured, but we were probably hit by a memory spell or something of the sort because I- we don't remember anything about who and why. I don't think Yamamoto does, either." She didn't mention the fact that she thought Farwill probably did.
ReplyDeleteKnapp sat back in her chair, deep in thought, her eyes closed. "I see." Her eyes did not open. "Was there anybody else at the scene?"
Shiina was silent, not sure what to tell Knapp.
ReplyDeleteThere was a silence, then Bryn looked up at Knapp. "No. Not... that I remember."
ReplyDeleteKnapp still didn't open her eyes, and seemed to be thinking very hard. Then, she looked up at the two girls. "Very well, you two. You may leave. Thank you."
Shiina got up and left. Outside, she said to Bryn, "What now?"
ReplyDeleteBryn shrugged. "I dunno. We missed dinner, so... shall we just get a quick snack at the Great Hall?"
ReplyDeleteShiina procured some onigiri. "I'm fine."
ReplyDelete(YUM)
Bryn looked distastefully at it. "Yeah. I'm going to the Hall."
ReplyDeleteShiina shrugged and went back to her dorm.
ReplyDeleteBryn and Shiina walked in. Knapp and Farwill were standing side by side, staring at them with scrutinizing expressions.
ReplyDeleteShiina looked away.
ReplyDeleteShe then turned back. "What do you want?" she demanded.
ReplyDeleteKnapp's expression was cool. Farwill's was almost a complete replica of hers. "What happened on the field?" Knapp demanded.
ReplyDeleteBryn looked down. "Er, I think that Damien tackled Shiina because of the snitch." She then raised her head and stared at the two adults right in the eye. "But that's not what you wanted to talk about. If you wanted to speak of the field, Damien and Shiina would be here, not me. Professor Farwill wouldn't be here either. The only thing that connects me, Shiina, and Farwill is the prophecy. Isn't that what you really needed to say?"
ReplyDeleteShiina gazed at Knapp and Farwill, intimidating them while Bryn talked. She didn't know what to say, so she said nothing.
ReplyDeleteFarwill looked undecided. She wasn't sure whether she should tell them about Krumiage... or her fate.
ReplyDeleteKnapp sighed. "Yes, that is what we called you here for. Tell me- us- what you know."
Shiina looked up at Knapp. "Revenge," she said. "Revenge, alchemist, spell maker, seer and animagus will destroy us. But there is one more," she said after a while. "But why they want revenge, we do not know. We only know that Lyreade will be destroyed if we do not do something. Utter annihilation."
ReplyDeleteBryn spoke up. "The fifth one is a traveller. That is the person who we don't know. The others- Kasumi Natsumoto, seer. Tsutama Natsumoto, powerful animagus. Daniel Papyrus, alchemist. And Fallera Papyrus, spellcaster." She swallowed. "Our parents." Bryn decided not to tell them about their powers. "Their ancient cavern is at Ruma. Under the collapsed temple. They made a pact, probably to destroy Lyreade for revenge."
ReplyDeleteKnapps narrowed her eyes, thinking. Shiina looked up at her, glaring, as if challenging her to say something. Knapps turned to Farwill. "You knew all of this?" she asked, eyes as serious and sharp as a hawk's.
ReplyDeleteFarwill nodded in consent. "Of course, Headmistress. You know that I am a seer, do you not?" She gave a glance towards Shiina, reassuring that she wouldn't give away that she was a seer. Bryn stared at Farwill, silently willing her to not say more than she should.
ReplyDeleteKnapp nodded. "Of course, of course." She gazed at the two girls for a while, then nodded again. "All right, girls. You may leave now." She looked over at Farwill. "You, too," she said.
ReplyDeleteShiina turned and left, hungry. She decided to go over to the great hall. She turned around. "You coming?" she asked Bryn.
Bryn nodded. "I heard they've got some chazuke there now," she said.
ReplyDeleteFarwill nodded to the headmistress and swept out of the room. Outside, she bent down and whispered to the two girls, "Don't worry, I didn't say anything."
Shiina ignored Farwill and proceeded to the great hall.
ReplyDeleteBryn gave Farwill a curt nod and followed Shiina to the great hall. Farwill departed to the hospital wing to visit Yamamato.
ReplyDeleteDamien and Taki knocked on the door of the headmistress's office, and the older boy held Taki back as she opened the door.
ReplyDeleteKnapp opened was sitting at her desk, going over paperwork. She looked up. "Oh, Reedwing. And this is....?"
ReplyDeleteBryn pushed Taki forward. "This is Taki Natsumoto, Shiina's brother. He arrived earlier today, and he wants to join. Damien and I recommend Eagletalon."
ReplyDeleteKnapp nodded slowly and walked forwards to look at the boy. "What is your knowledge of wizardry?" she asked.
ReplyDelete"Uh... I've never been to a wizarding school, because I've lived under captivity of my parents, but they've taught me many battling spells and some Dark Arts. They're assassins, as you must know," he added, looking a but nervous. Bryn stared challengingly at Knapp. "He's been tortured, beaten. But he's still powerful, like his sister."
ReplyDeleteKnapp thought for a moment with her eyes closed, then opened them, looking straight at the boy. "I'll put you in year two," she said. "There are more things to learn than just spells. There's another Eagletalon in year two, Haruyuki. You can go to her classes starting next week."
ReplyDelete(they do years by age, but classes by level)
ReplyDeleteBryn looked slightly confused. "What? Professor, he's fourteen. Shouldn't he be in Year 4, and Year 5 D.A.D.A? Maybe his other classes could be year two."
Knapp furrowed her eyebrows, her mind cloudy. She thought for a moment, and it was cleared. "Wha...Yes, of course," the headmistress said. "Reedwing, show Taki around the school. I'll look for the proper paperwork."
ReplyDeleteBryn nodded. "Of course, professor," she said, and took Taki's arm and dragged him out of the door. "Come on, back to the infirmary..."
